Exploring the Vibrant Street Art Scene of Harris County, Texas

Harris County, Texas is a hub of creativity and artistry, boasting a vibrant street art scene with many renowned artists and works of art. From the graffiti of H-Town legends such as Jade, Colors, Weah, Prime, Bekit and Kaze to the functional piece of public art designed and created by Texan artist David Adickes, there is something for everyone to appreciate. Chief Jimoh Buraimoh, a Nigerian painter and artist, installed artwork as part of Commissioner Ellis' efforts to spread public works of art throughout Harris County. The El Franco Lee statue, sculpted by artist Chas Fagan, is the centerpiece of the El Franco Lee Service Plaza.

Lady Justice, located in the Harris County District Attorney's office in downtown Houston, was created by an artist chosen from among her peers through a competition created in collaboration with UHD. In each city, a panel of judges selects two artists to show and sell their works at the SCOPE Art Exhibition. The momentum and generous support of the Central Houston Management District and Harris County District One have made it possible for these works of art to be enjoyed by all. Much of Houston's graffiti scene corresponds to the rise of the hip hop scene, as rappers such as Bun B, Slim Thug and others have highlighted local graffiti artists and represented their works of art in music videos and album covers. Visitors to Alexander Deussen Park are welcomed with a functional piece of public art designed and created by Texan artist David Adickes. The street art scene in Harris County is an ever-evolving one.
